Welcome to SRVLL

Welcome to a new season of baseball!  I want to start out by thanking our outgoing President Scott Tinetti for his dedication to the league over the last 7 years. Scott joined the board in 2012, and since then coordinated our Single A division, was the League Information Officer and finally our Board President.  Scott lead the Board over the last 3 years and did an amazing job while often wearing multiple hats.

I would also like to introduce myself as the new league President.  I was the Safety Officer last year and have coached three seasons with SRVLL.

As we get ready for the spring season, the Board of Directors is focused on three key initiatives:

1)
Ensuring that SRVLL’s programs are aligned with Little League’s core mission of developing superior citizens and values of Character, Courage and Loyalty.  As parents, it’s easy for us to lose site of all the benefits of sports participation and instead to focus on the wins and losses. We want to make sure our programs, including our coaches and trainers, are being development focused, so our kids can build skills that they can use on and off the baseball field.

2) Evolving our programs to keep kids engaged and learning.  We’re reviewing ways to implement recommendations from USA Baseball and MLB, including game modifications and collapsing lower divisions.

3)
Developing processes to make SRVLL more open to the community.  This includes revamping our social channels for better communications, development of board processes that allow community members to more easily suggest improvements and help get them implemented, and more transparency from the board.

SRVLL is YOUR league.  We are 100% community organized and managed. I’m hoping to hear from you about how we can improve the SRVLL experience.  There are many ways to get involved, and you don’t need to be a baseball expert to participate (Example - love social media?  Help us run our channels!). Most families don’t recognize the full breadth of experiences the league provides, so here are some quick highlights:

Over 600 kids play in our spring league in 2018.  Ages range from 5 (tee ball) to 16 (Seniors Division)

Over 100 kids over the age of 12 are registered as umpires in our league.  This is their first job and teaches valuable skills such as time management and working directly with adults.

Over 12 kids and young adults with physical and developmental challenges participate in our Challenger division.  Kids in our Majors division have the opportunity to work in this amazing community program.

And all of this is coordinated and run by hundreds of parents and community members that volunteer their time and resources.

Please don’t hesitate to reach out to me or other Board members if you have any comments or suggestions at how we can improve upon the Little League experience for our children.

Thanks!
